A Song for a Surfer

I will be moderating a talkback with playwright Callan Stout after her reading on Thursday, May 30th at 7:30 PM at Son of Semele.

Tactical Reads is presented by The Vagrancy and LAFPI. The reading will be directed by Katie Witkowski.

A Song for a Surfer by Callan Stout

Nate and Devin, two hard core recreational Venice beach surfers are thrown for a loop when Koa mysteriously appears, as if from the waves, on the anniversary of Nate’s girlfriend’s death, demanding entrance into their lives. Nate is inexplicably drawn in by the very scent of her, but is too stubborn and she seduces Devin. A friendly surfing competition puts Devin in a coma and Koa pushes Nate to accept her and forgive himself in order to save Devin.

Into the Wild

My play THE VERMILLION HAND will be read in Valdez, AK on May 20th as part of the Last Frontier Theatre Conference.

I’ve never been to Alaska, but I’m looking forward. Maybe I’ll bring a coat. Though, I’ve been living in LA for so long now that I don’t even know if I own one.
